My prayer life.
Stina: "Hey God,
I just don't understand."
God: mutters something in Hebrew.
Stina: "Thanks. that helps a lot."

Prepare to Come about.
I took my first sailing lesson today, or well at least part of my first sailing lesson.
The rigging class was very interesting, and I learned a lot about sail boats, including that the mast is held up only by tension, so if you let go of the halyard, you could be jumping all day trying to get it back down. NEVER let go of the halyard.
We went out sailing for a while, but it was really too windy for a lesson. We were learning a Come about, but we never actually got to take the tiller, because we were too nervous because of the high wind gusts. We actually had a close call with the boom. So we decided to surf back in. We did get to crew though, (control the jib) which was educational.
I was a little nervous, but overall I like sailing i think, although, the smaller the boat, the scarier.

CRAZY!
Alright, grades are up, and somehow I managed to get a 4.0.
There was much screaming and jumping up and down. (haha good thing no one was home.)I had a pretty hard schedule too, I never expected I would be able to pull that off. Says something for hard work though, because I swear I read that Anatomy and Physiology book cover to cover.
This puts my cumulative GPA at somewhere around a 3.859 or something. Im happy with that. Actually ecstatic.

A list
I think im going to make a list of things I want to do in the next year.
The first two things are:
1) get my splits really good for gymnastics. get better flexibility.
2) Do backwalkovers right. I can do the back bend, and the cheater kickover, but I gotta work on putting those together. they are a little rough.
hmm let me think what other things do i want to do this year?
3) make a new friend that ive never met before
4)convince my parents to get a dog
5) laugh a lot.
6) read some good books.
Anything you can think of that I should do this year?

Finding Milwaukee, angles and such
Ive had this recurring thought as of late, that a place isnt really home, until you've left it and gone back to it.
Today I told you that I was wondering what I was going to do for the next three years in milwaukee. that milwaukee has nothing for me. But maybe Im wrong. At least you've given me one thing to do. I think Im going to have to get a new sketch book for it though, Im running out of room. But it will be good. lots of angles.
There is definitly something to doing things that other people tell you to do. Like drawing trees and using mathematical equations to measure their angles. or like doing a one handed cartwheel on the wrong hand (actually this is quite funny. supposed to turn into a reverse pirouette).
I was thinking that on second thought I probably dont know my chemistry professor. I just know chemistry. So i know my chemistry professor through the power of experience. Experience is powerful, isnt it?
That apple was SO good.

Barefootliberal, Christianity, and Christ
Today I discussed my screen name a little bit (barefootliberal) with someone I barely know. He called me a marxist. I laughed in my head and said, this will go well, name calling in the first few lines of the conversation. Its funny how people are so attatched to themselves (me included.) He asked me what it meant to me so I told him, barefoot means that I like to wear sandals, and liberal means free however you want to take it. (I purposely avoided disclosing my political affiliations cos I dont like to fight, although i think they probably became evident.) He named some Bible versus in 1 corinth and some other one and said that if my "free" comes from there he'd be interested in "how I came down on doctrinal issues." I told him that it generally works the other way around (doctrine is supposed to come down on me;). and thats all I said. Really "liberal" doesnt come from the Bible at all (it did have political affiliations though) , it comes from who I am. The essence of a human was around long before the Bible but is evident everywhere in the Bible. I believe the human person is free, at least to a certain extent. The laws of quantum mechanics scream freedom and spontenaity is possible. The Bible does too.
Jesus was free. He wasnt constrained by society. Although He wasnt soley political, He taught us something about why politics sucks as a general principle. Most of all I think He taught us about being human and our relationship to other humans. Mostly about what we shouldnt do. judge other people. He taught us about sacrifice.
You know...I rarely hear the name of Christ in the sermons at my church. They are usually about Paul or Timothy or something they (the non-Jesus types) wrote. I think modern Christianity is more like Bible-ality. Paul is good. Timothy is good. The stuff they wrote is pretty good. (ooh. pretty? good. sacrelidge.)
When is christianity going to be about Christ again? and more importantly what effect would this have on the church?
